DNA metabarcoding service

DNA metabarcoding is the genetic analysis of mixed samples consisting of a large number of individuals. DNA metabarcoding service can detetct the organisms in a single analysis step. Samples do not need to be sorted and identified individually as in classical methods. Whole samples from thousands of individuals can be homogenized and analyzed using high-throughput (NGS) Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology. This provides complete species lists and the composition of species within a sample in one step.

All samples that potentially contain more than one type of DNA, individual or organism are classified as mixed or bulk samples.

For example:

  • Insect trap samples,
  • Malaise trap samples,
  • Sticky trap samples,
  • Soil samples,
  • Faeces / stool samples,
  • Stomach contents,
  • Water samples,
  • zooplankton samples,
  • phytoplankton samples,
  • processed foods

We are happy to advise you on a case-by-case basis on your individual sample and the DNA metabarcoding service!
